FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ANSWERED BY CO-AUTHOR, ALAN COLLINS

Q:  I don’t like novels. Why a novel instead of just a straightforward non-fiction, HR book that deals with this topic?

A:  We didn’t want this to be another boring, theoretical HR book. And frankly, a novel is the best way of conveying the important message in this book in a way both entertaining as well as educational.

As a lifelong HR pro, I’ve had this story rolling around in my head for over ten years, but I didn’t have the writing ability to be able to tell the story by myself as a novel. So I needed someone with experience to partner with me in order to tell it in a fun and engaging way.

Enter: Allison Quinn. She’s been a great collaborator and co-author. She helped bring the story in my head to life. She’s an awesomely gifted up and coming novelist and fiction writer who has a knack for creating realistic, relatable characters and intriguing stories. This book would not have been possible without her prodigious story-telling talent.

The book will expose you to one of her roller-coaster tales that will grip you from start to finish. So buckle up, dive in and enjoy the ride.

So even if you don’t like novels, you’ll LOVE this one!

Q: I hear that there’s sex described in this book. Is that true?

A: You’ll find some heated romance here, profanity and yes, a little sex. But let’s be clear, you’re NOT going to find porn, erotica, explicit smut or kinky situations. This is NOT that kind of book!

But make no mistake about it — this is a juicy tale for ADULTS only.

Here’s the deal: if you’re not offended watching PG-18 movies or some R-rated movies on Netflix or cable TV, then this book should not offend you either. Consider this a highly entertaining, romantic business story with a surprising, yet powerful message for all HR folks at the end. With all that said, I can’t guarantee that you won’t be surprised, shocked or even taken aback at times. But consider that part of the ride.

You’ll also find racial tension, lying, deception, betrayal, snitching, discrimination, potential sexual harassment, workplace gossip and corporate politics in this book.  All realistically depicted just like you’ll find in today’s workplace.

Q: Tell us more about this mysterious NUMBER ONE HR CAREER SUCCESS SECRET?

Nice try. But you’ll need to get the book find out what it is.

However, know this – just about all extraordinarily successful HR folks who move ahead in their careers already employ this NUMBER ONE thing – even though they may be doing it unconsciously.

So, is this really new? Frankly, no.  I’ve written about it very subtly before, but you’d have to read five of my books to get it — and you’d have to know exactly where and what to look for.  In this book, there’s no mystery about it. Allison and I cut through the crap. You’ll find it here in ONE spot and you’ll be entertained in the process.

So, is there really, really a NUMBER ONE thing?  Yes, there is. Definitely. And there are a number of ways you can apply it — all of which you’ll find actionable and doable and will allow you to create that breakthrough you might need in your HR career.  In fact, I’ll share five different ways to apply this NUMBER ONE SUCCESS SECRET at the end of the book.  And once you know it, you’ll come up with others yourself.

That’s all I’ll say.
